could not find stored procedure 'dbo.sp_MSdropfkreferencingarticle'

Hi, I'm trying to generate a snapshot of a database (running on SQL 2005 SP1) prior to starting transactional replication to an SQL 7.0 server. After generating the snapshot, the agent fails with the error message 'could not find stored procedure 'dbo.sp_MSdropfkreferencingarticle' and suggests lookin at error number 2812 (which offers no help).

I was convinced this worked prior to installing SP1, but that testing was done some time ago....

Andy, this is a bug we need to fix (I am guessing you are using "truncate" as the pre-creation command). To workaround for now, you can:

1) Use drop as the pre-creation command

2) Create a dummy procedure "sp_MSdropfkreferencingarticle" at your 70 subscriber

-Raymond

|||Thanks Raymond, creating the dummy stored procedure worked OK without changing the pre-creation command from truncate to drop.

Could not create tempdb - SQL Server 2005 with SP1

I am receiving the following message within the Application Event Log on one
of my servers.
Could not create tempdb. You may not have enough disk space available. Free
additional disk space by deleting other files on the tempdb drive and then
restart SQL Server. Check for additional errors in the event log that may
indicate why the tempdb files could not be initialized.
I am also receiving this error:
The database 'model' is marked RESTORING and is in a state that does not
allow recovery to be run.
The strange thing about this message is that the server was working
correctly yesterday. The only thing that changed: The server was shut down
and moved to a new data center. Connectivity is in place because I can
connect to the box via Remote Desktop from work and from home.
This error is ONLYhappening on the default instance. There are two other
instances on the server (all three SQL Server installs are running under the
same network account).
There is enough free space on the volumes.
OS: 24GB free
internal array: 650 GB free
external array (MSA 500 G2): 900GB free
I even tried starting that instance in single user mode from the command
prompt via:
sqlservr -smssqlserver -c -f -m -T3608
This worked and I tried moving tempdb to the different volumes that are
available on the box. When I try to start SQL Server I receive the same
errors about model and tempdb and this instance fails to start.
I appreciate any assistance you can provide!

Hi
Check your logs(ldf) file size

SW|||In addition to the errors that I mentioned (recorded within the Application
log), this error is within the System log:
The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with service-specific error

The error is written right after the entry that states:
The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service entered the stopped state.
I tried starting SQL Server normally after telling it where to create tempdb
(via ALTER DATABASE ... MODIFY FILE...).
It would not start -- the same errors on model and tempdb are written to the
log.
Then I started SQL Server via the command line again
(sqlservr -smssqlserver -c -f -m -T3608).
It started (as before).
SQL crashes if I execute these commands:
sp_helpdb tempdb
select * From tempdb..sysfiles
I can execute these commands, however:

Could I Install SP1 on windows xp

I have sql server 2005 standard edition.I have downloaded sp1 but can't able to install.I want's to know could i install it on windows xp.as on the page of sp1 i have read that it is for longhorn and vista.

I have the problem of creating diagram of my db.When i run

ALTER AUTHORIZATION ON DATABASE::pubs TO [kamranshahid\yukon]

it gives me the error.

Cannot find the principal 'kamranshahid\yukon', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.

I can't able to resolve it by command.I can't able to install sp1.What else can i do should I trash my sql server 2005 standard edition.

It seems you have 2 problems;

1/ Can't install SP1 of SQL Server 2005 on a copy of Std running on Win XP, correct? If so whats the error?

2/ You can't create diagrams on your RTM instance, correct? is 'kamranshahid\yukon' a user in the database? what perms does it have? what user are you logged in as an what perms do you have?
